The Green Coat: A Tale from the Dust Bowl Years by Rosemary McDunn |
200 pages, 5" x 8", Paperback
The universal appeal of "The Green Coat" is due to Mrs. McDunn's mastery of historical events, excellent dialogue, rich characters, and her tribute to the human spirit. Young readers are captivated by the harrowing events in which Tressa and older brother Will find themselves while adults are drawn to the emphasis of such traits as perseverance and loyalty. "The Green Coat" is a wonderful family book as well as a great classroom book.
I could not put down Rosemary McDunn's THE GREEN COAT. It's amazing how naturally McDunn weaves God's sovereignty into the story to explain why God allows hurt, death and disappointment into our lives. The story has a lot to say about how, in the midst of tragedy, God is at work through the silent, selfless works of sacrifice and love, which are paid back one-hundred fold. It was a delightful three hours absorbing a work of art that fed my soul. This would be a great book for public school settings to counter the bombardment of books about dragons and witchcraft. The Green Coat is the type of historical fiction that is at once both educational and morally sound. (Pam Williams, Public Middle School Teacher and Catholic Religious Education Instructor)

The Story of Peace by Miriam Ezeh Available Mid April 2008 |
170 pages, 5" x 8", Paperback
In a small farming village off the coast of modern day Africa, a young woman named Peace sets about to protect the life of her teenage brother, Lawrence, after their parents are killed in a bombing at the village market. As their village is drawn into a tribal war, so is Lawrence's fatal interest in revenging his parents' death. Peace holds fast to her faith and trust in Christ, and does her best to shield Lawrence from his own drive for violence. Her life, however, is made all the more complicated by John, a young medical doctor from the States who has decided to return to the village of his recently deceased mother, and make it his own. The Story of Peace is about right relationships, and the power of faith and chaste love in time of war. It is a story that will grip readers of all ages, especially teens and young adults, as they confront a world hostile to true love, reason, and faith.
A truly astonishing and engaging story of what it means to live responsibly in a time of love, war and peace. Should be required reading for every teenager and adult, wherever they live, whatever their situation. I could not put it down. Would make a great movie. (Stanley D. Williams, Ph.D.)

Everybody Got 2 Suffer Fr. Stan Fortuna, CFR |
It is said that those who suffer are closer to Christ. In Fr. Stan Fortuna's music video, Everybody Got 2 Suffer, human suffering is depicted onscreen by both the rich and the poor. there is also an hour of "On Fire" teaching by Fr. Stan. The music video itself is roughly five and a half minutes (5:34) long, spanning over the urban landscape of New York, cemeteries, parks, the Ghetto, a rich man's mansion, and others. Fr. Stan uses the socially-odious medium of a rap (hip-hop music, a genre most closely associated with inner-city youth, especially minorities) to communicate against the message that "suffering is essentially bad." According to the music video, no one can escape suffering, because the world is full of sin and it constantly tests our faith.
