A Mother's Rule of Life How to Bring Order to your Home and Peace to Your Soul Holly Pierlot
|
Book - 224 pages - 5.5 x 8.5 On Backorder till Late August
On January 1, 2000, Holly Pierlot pounded her fist on the kitchen table and yelled at her husband, "I can't take it anymore!" Motherhood and homeschooling had overwhelmed her. The house was dirty, the laundry undone. Holly felt frustrated, discouraged, and alone. She couldn't find time to snuggle and have fun with her five children or to go out with her husband. Yes, she loved Philip and she did love God, but she had come to resent Philip's freedom and she almost never found time for prayer.
Today, everything's better. Holly still homeschools, but the house is cleaner, she gets more done, and the kids are happier. There's less stress, less strife, and less housework. Holly's been healed of past wounds that troubled her soul and her marriage. Best of all, she spends at least an hour each day in prayer and time each evening with Philip. Holly brought about these changes with what she calls her Mother's Rule of Life, a pattern for living that combines the spiritual wisdom of the monastery with the practical wisdom of motherhood.
Holly's Rule is not just another set of schedules; it's a way for Christian mothers to answer God's call to holiness. With the help of your own Rule, you can get control of your own household, grow closer to God, come to love your husband more, and raise up good Christian children. In these wise and practical pages, Holly shows you how. Do you want to be a better wife and mother? To have more order in your life? To grow in union with God? Are you desperate yet? With your own Mother's Rule of Life, you'll transform motherhood and its burdens into the joyful vocation it's meant to be. Learn from Holly Pierlot how to craft a Rule that's right for you and your family. Then use that Rule to help God draw you, your husband, and each of your children into Heaven!

Please Don't Drink the Holy Water Susie Lloyd
|
Book - 224 pages - 5.5 x 8.5
"If heaven's a banquet, will I have to do dishes?" That's all Catholic mom Susie Lloyd wants to know. Marriage and motherhood have taught her the rest, including the things that are most important in life: "Metaphysical realities like the existence of God can get along without my help. Cleaning the bathroom can't."
Homeschooling her kids has left Susie wise beyond her years: she's learned why pi is square instead of round, and searched out the best places to buy a cow's eyeball for the science fair. "In fact," she says, "Socrates had it easy. His students never interrupted him to go to the bathroom or ask when lunch was." Susie's husband is always there to support her: "Greg tells me education would have no purpose if kids didn't start out ignorant. He seems to think that will keep me from strangling them."
Yet she's always patient, even when strangers gawk at her and her five daughters and ask: "Are they all yours?", "Are you done yet?", "Don't you have a TV?" Susie tells them that raising five girls isn't really so hard (at least not until they're teenagers). After all, "Daughters don't have the same needs as sons. They can live for days on hors d'oeuvres." So come along for a ride in Susie's full-size van as she faces the trials of Family Rosary and tangles with snide education experts, gruff confessors, and relatives who tell her it's time to wake up and join the "real world." But Susie's already in the Real World: a happy Catholic family on its way to heaven!

Behold Your Mother Heidi Hess Saxton
|
Book - 72 pages - 5 x 8
Behold Your Mother is a collection of beautiful meditations on the lives of Mary and Jesus with a special emphasis on Mary's role as mother of us all. Even those who are new to a relationship with our heavenly mother will be drawn in by Heidi's charming personal stories and eloquent prose. This
book is both a lesson in Marian spirituality and a simple prayer book, but mostly it is a love poem from a faithful daughter to her mama. A treasure. (Cathy Adamkiewicz, author of Broken and Blessed)
In Behold Your Mother, Heidi examines those many roles [of Mary]--from the Intended of Joseph to the Queen of Peace, in the 48 meditations that follow her three stories about her experiences with Mary. Each begins with a bit of Scripture or legend about Mary, followed by a meditation in verse and a prayer to her or to a saint important to her role. These are beautifully done, but more than that, they are heartfelt. A few brought tears to my eyes. ... This is a terrific book for someone wanting to strengthen their relationship with Mary, our Mother or to learn more about her life and her roles, past and present, and what they mean for us today. (Karina Fabian, President, Catholic Writer's Guild, Author of Infinite Space, Infinite God)
Heidi Saxton is an excellent writer of clear, unambiguous, and engaging prose. Her one page reflections in this book are textbook examples of Ignatian Spirituality. When I went through Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius the first time, I had a hard time understanding what I was suppose to get out of the contemplation exercises. This book would have been a great tool to help me do that. I'm not really "into Mary", but this book drew me much closer, and I enjoyed our Blessed Mother's presence. Like the Apostle John, at the foot of the cross, I finally got the idea behind what Jesus was saying to ME, 'Behold Your Mother.' How cool! (Stanley D. Williams, Ph.D., Nineveh's Crossing)

Bring That Child to Me Lorraine Hartsook
|
DVD - Sample Tracks at MoreInfo below.
The song "Bring That Child to Me" was written by Steven Paul Chapman, a songwriter whose heart lies in the strength of family values and life. The song was given to Lorraine by a friend who knew she was grieving the loss of many miscarriages, and Lorraine began to sing it at concerts and with Chapman's permission put it on her latest album "Embrace the Cross." Then at a conference, Lorraine was approached by a woman who convinced her that the song needed to be a music video. Something Lorraine hopes will save the life of an unborn child. Contains a 12 minute interview with Lorraine and her husband, Larry.

Elizabeth by Cheryl Dickow |
238 pages, 6" x 9", Paperback
Join Elizabeth's mid-life flight to the Holy Land as she questions her marriage and her life. See how God reaches her through people and events. Experience Elizabeth's walk on the Via Dolorosa, the way of the cross, and her kayak trip down the Jordan River. Sit with her at an outdoor cafe and marvel at the sights and sounds of Jerusalem. Listen as Elizabeth learns the names of God and hears about the matriarchs of the faith: Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah. Discover, with Elizabeth, a great deal about Jewish traditions and festivals, and the true nature of agape love on the pilgrimage of a lifetime.
I loved it. As soon as I started, I was hooked. It's a masterpiece! The ending was perfect! In Elizabeth, there is something for every woman to identify with, whether it is problems within a marriage, dissatisfaction with self, reconciling with a troubled past, or raising doubts about one’s success as a mother—it’s all there, and it's not contrived. The story is naturally told and open-ended, as our lives really are. I thank God for the opportunity to read Elizabeth, and, I hope to have the pleasure of reading more of Cheryl Dickow’s books very soon. (Pam Williams, Public Middle School Teacher and Catholic Religious Education Instructor)
